Jordan's pubic debt reaches JOD26.5 bln in 1Q

Jordan's total public debt at the end of the first quarter this year amounted to JD26.5 billion or 95.1 per cent of projected GDP.

According to data released by the ministry of finance, the National Electricity Company (NEPCO) and Water Authority (WAJ) debt amounted to JD7.6 billion.

The data showed that the net public debt at the end of the first quarter of 2017 rose by JD459.4 million compared to the end of 2016. 

The net domestic debt, including that of financially independent government agencies, at the end of the first quarter of 2017 stood at JD13.95 billion compared with JD13.78 billion at the end of 2016.
